Pinch Studios is a new Painted Digital venture into iOS applications and games. For the past month or so I’ve had the honor of working with the North Carolina Baptist State Convention on a new site for their users. It’s been a very interesting project with loads of backend design. It’s also the first monochromatic design I’ve done. It’s still in development, but I thought it was worth sharing.

This was a really fun project that, like Geoghegan Builders, was based around wood. So we got to have some fun with warm colors and the client really gave us a lot of design freedoms. The background is a beautiful wood called Birdseye Maple and our client uses that very wood to make some of his products.

MTV NextMovie was a great project that Painted Digital worked on with the team at Shane & Peter. The site has a very fun feel to it, covering the latest movie news. After we had completed the project, MTV came back wanting a rougher look and the entire project was redesigned at light speed, but this look was one of my favs.

This one is still in the development phase, but is going to turn out great. Geoghegan Builders (wanna guess how it’s pronounced?) asked us to build a site that could show their clientele what they could really do for them. With only one image, it’s difficult to see what work is original and what is new, so we came up with a solution that they very excited about.

In 2010, Painted Digital was contracted by the Associated Press through Shane & Peter to help design a new college football site. One of the main challenges was creating a live scores page with college colors and brands that were recognizable. We went through countless revisions to perfect the version you see today – which in the end, turned out wonderful.

Computer Systems Repair or CSR is a group of great guys based in Staunton, VA. They contacted me asking for a one-page website that displayed all they have to offer. We came up with the identity of them as Samurai and PD illustrated all the characters as well as designed the site.

TEAM Japan is a great Christian organization that is a branch of The Evangelical Alliance Mission (TEAM). We were so happy to be able to help an organization is doing so much good. We were able to provide them with an earth-toned website based on WordPress, which allows them to maintain their content and update it anytime – completely on their own.

I was contracted to design Discover Our Town for the iPhone as a mobile extension of their website. The app has a ton of functionality including a very unique category selection wheel. It also includes a favorites system, utilizes the iPhone’s GPS, and ties in with Google maps for directions. The app is still in development but I should be able to link to it soon.

Pigskin Live was the second full iPhone app that I got to design. Andrew and I built it as a great way to keep up with multiple games on your iPhone. Everything in the app refreshes constantly to keep up with the game(s), and we just enjoy watching all the scores change! The biggest design challenge was getting team recognition without using team logos. That’s why we came up with the colors under the scores. I hope you check it out!

Pill Prompter is the first app that Andrew and I made for Pinch Studios. It’s a simple iPhone/iPod touch app that reminds the user when it’s time to take their medicine daily. It was a great learning project for us both and we each grew tremendously from it. To this day it remains one of Pinch Studios’ most successful apps.

Though it may look small, this was my biggest task while working for Liberty U. It could be compared to making your own YouTube. I had to allow uploading, voting, view counts, etc. It was often a headache, but the result is one of my products I’m most proud of. My favorite part of the player was the movable controls you could put them anywhere on the video and they would disappear after you stopped your mouse.

This clean little scroller was designed and constructed for Liberty University’s Law School. Included was a beautiful back-end that allowed for easy updating. Its best feature is that it’s 100% resizable – able to be dropped in anywhere on the site.

This is an animated fundraising graph that I did when we were raising support to come to Japan as missionaries. The percentage is controlled by XML (basically a text file) which was dead-simple to update. A lot of people really enjoyed knowing exactly where our support level was at.
